Golden ROI 2025 Winners - Third Edition
1st Place - Alperen Ayan (California, USA)
Title: "Mirage"
Description:
A defining element of dreams is the almost imperceptible blurring between our lived reality and a variety of fictions within the dream. This illustration depicts the feeling of transition between the physical world and the illusory images of the dream world, where things appear real, but not in the same form.
2nd Place - Pietro Canepa (Italy, EU)
Title: ‘Nostos’ (return journey)
Description:
Inspired by surrealism, I sought a simple composition of realistic elements placed in an unusual way. In this case, in the middle of the desert, three clouds are placed as if they were immense boulders, covering a green oasis.
A procession of humans heads towards the strange place, metaphorically and realistically: a promised land, a shelter, another dimension. The idea of the dream is then reaffirmed by the presence of the moon and stars, albeit in broad daylight.
3rd Place - Nicolas Russo (France, EU)
Title: ‘YRUL's Arrival’.
Description:
Every full moon, the personification of dreams, YRUL, blurs the thin layer separating her world from reality.
Ancestral spirits can visit mortals, portals open from dreams into the world, allowing fantasies and love to spread everywhere. Time stands still and for one night a month only happiness exists.
Honourable Mentions
Lara Ongis (Italy, EU)
Title: ‘The Dreamweaver
Description:
In a space lost between reality and imagination, lies a wise man, or so I think, hunched over his endless works. His fingers weave delicate tapestries of dreams with the most delicate of silks, spun directly from the fragile weave of the moth.
Her mechanical limbs move and coil the threads like a spider casting its web, adding more and more squares to the cloth that glows with invisible stories. Its eyes, flickering with an ancient light, stitch together the impossible. Perhaps he is a higher entity. Perhaps just a tailor. Or perhaps he is just another dream, trapped in the web he himself has created.

Title: ‘The Sleeping Giant's Pass’.
Description:
This is a fantastic, dreamlike world in which sheep and sheepdogs can levitate across the ravine with the help of the mysterious power of the Sleeping Giant.
It is said that the sleeping giant's otherworldly routine of counting sheep and falling asleep is what makes it possible to create a fantastically convenient aerial bridge that helps the little ones pass without getting wet.
